The Ford Deluxe is one of the most beloved cars in America. In addition to its status as a popular hot toddler, Hollywood can’t get enough of it. And neither can we. Take a look at this video, and you’ll see what we mean.

Ford Deluxe History

In 1938, De Luxe Ford is introduced as a bridge between the Ford and Lincoln brands. Not to be confused with the deluxe trims on Ford models, the De Luxe Ford was something of a separate line.

De Luxe Ford continued to produce vehicles as a separate marque until 1940 when Mercury came into its own. The Ford-owned lines were later simplified following the start of WWII from Ford, De Luxe Ford, Mercury, Lincoln-Zephyr, and Lincoln to Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln.

Consequently, from 1941 onward, all Deluxe and Super Deluxe were under the main Ford line.

Ford Deluxe And Hollywood

The Deluxe went on to become a favorite of Hollywood, having starred in four major films.

A ’37 Super Deluxe convertible is gifted to Daniel LaRusso by Mr. Miyagi in 1984’s The Karate Kid.
In Grease, a ’38 Deluxe features as the infamous “Greased Lightning”.
Lastly, in Back to the Future and Back to the Future II, villain Biff Tannen drives a 1946 Super De Luxe convertible.

Fun Fact: Daniel LaRusso actor Ralph Macchio was gifted the vehicle by the studio after requesting to purchase it and is still in possession of the vehicle today.

1940 Ford Deluxe Resto-Mod

This 1940 Ford Deluxe is in top shape and one of the cleanest resto-mods we’ve seen. To top it off, the odometer reads only 5,390 miles!

It features an all-Ford steel body on a TCI Stage III chassis. The vehicle also features a Mustang II rack and pinion with tubular A-Arms, and Possies Super Slide parallel leaf rear suspension. You can guarantee that this ride will hang with the modern boys just fine!
