Looking Back At Our Famous 2020 Corvette C8 Reveal
If you were in the Des Moines area in September 2019, you may remember the unveiling of the revolutionary 2020 Chevy Corvette C8. Where did it happen?
Chevrolet selected one of our top-selling dealerships to reveal their Corvette, Karl Chevrolet located in Ankeny, Iowa!
GM Picked Karl Chevrolet To Unveil The 2020 Corvette C8
Karl Chevrolet is a top Corvette dealer. We stock and sell more Corvettes than any other dealer in Iowa. That’s why General Motors picked us to be one of the stops on the 2020 Corvette C8 Stingray tour.
Between July 2019 and early 2020, GM took the new 2020 C8 Corvette on a tour across the United States. The C8 made an appearance at 125 select dealerships, including Karl Chevrolet. Corvette enthusiasts flocked to these dealerships to get an exclusive peek at the new mid-engine C8.
On September 25, 2019, the coveted C8 made its exclusive appearance at our dealership. To our pleasant surprise, we had over a thousand visitors. They flocked here from all over the state to check out the 2020 C8 in person. Check it out:
Carl Moyer, the owner of Karl Chevrolet, was pleased to see how many people showed up. “This is the biggest single event that I’ve ever seen in my entire history in the car business,” he said.
Our visitors got up close and personal with the C8. They:
- Talked with the product specialists and asked lots of questions
- Sat in the driver’s seat (and possibly imagined themselves driving the car)
What Makes The 2020 Corvette C8 Unique?
Corvette enthusiasts all over the world were very excited to see the 2020 C8 hit the market. Why? Because the 2020 model is the first ever production Corvette with a mid-engine. The 2020 C8 also boasts features that other C8 models don’t have, such as:
- Aerodynamic features not seen on previous models, such as hidden handles
- The windshield placed above the front wheels
- This improves downforce and eliminates the need for a front air dam
This masterpiece is also the most powerful Corvette yet. It can:
- Produce up to 495 horsepower
- Produce up to 470 foot pounds of torque
- Go from 0-60 mph in only 2.78 seconds
- Go from 0-100 mph in only 8.3 seconds
In fact, this Corvette was so highly anticipated that it almost sold out before it even hit the market in early 2020. It’s no wonder people made a special trip to our dealership to get an exclusive first look at this masterpiece.
