Camaro Engine Swaps
At Karl Kustoms, we work on all kinds of Chevys, including the classic one featured in this blog post. We also love checking late model Camaros, like the ones featured in this blog post.
There are some projects we’re particularly proud of, like the 1950 Chevy 2-door Sedan Deluxe featured in this blog post. One of our most favorite things to do, though, is to give classic Chevys a whole lot of power. We carry a wide variety of Chevy crate engines.
So when we’re given an opportunity to put a crate engine into a classic Chevy, we’re always excited to do so.
Recently, we gave a fully custom 1967 Camaro the power it deserved by putting an LS engine into it. This car came into our shop with a 572 big block Chevy and a T56 transmission. Its owners didn’t seem to be happy with the performance of the big block Chevy LT1 and the T56 transmission. They asked us to install an LS3 525 GM Performance Crate engine. We also installed an LS-spec T56 transmission. We were quite pleased with the end result. Check it out:
We made a point to overhaul the ’67 Camaro’s powertrain to match its clean exterior. We also made some light repairs to the vehicle to make it complete. For example, the speedometer wasn’t accurate so we fixed that. We also fixed the tachometer.
We also had workability in mind when we worked on this car. We not only gave this car more power and made it complete, but we also made it easier to work on. We moved the fuse box and ECU to more accessible places, for example.
The end result? A fully functional, impressively powerful classic Camaro that’s easy to work on.
