Chevrolet CT525 6.2L Crate Engine
This 6.2L CT525 crate engine is a high-revving racing-focused engine built to power oval track racers like super late model and modified racers. This engine is very similar to other LS offerings here at Karl Kustoms, but thanks to the carbureted intake manifold, racing oil pan, and coil-on-plug ignition, this powerhouse can produce 533 horsepower at 6,600RPM and 477 lb-feet of torque at 5,200RPM.
With its cast-aluminum block design and forged aluminum pistons, this engine offers the power of lightweight LS builds coupled with circle-track focused horsepower and revs. When compared to similar 6.2L LS applications, this powerhouse offers more than 100 extra horsepower and 100 extra torque over standard 6.2L street-focused LS3s, plus a big bump in redline. All you need to finish out this engine is a carburetor, starter motor, LSX ignition controller, an external oil filter, and an oil cooler.
Important Notes
This crate engine does not include a water pump or factory exhaust manifolds, as fitment may vary from application to application. Also of note:
- Use LSX ignition controller P/N 19355863.
- Requires addition of carburetor, starter, exhaust system, and front accessory drive system.
- The 6-quart circle track oil pan is designed to clear most GM rear-steer chassis with stock engine location.
- Requires external oil filter and cooler (will increase capacity to approximately 8 quarts).
- For circle track racing only – not intended for street use.
- The CT525 does not include a water pump or factory exhaust manifolds.
- Circle track racing engines from Chevrolet Performance include anti-tampering seals installed.
